In 2006 Dael Allison spent eight months in Nias, Indonesia writing and volunteering with the UN and other aid agencies to assist in the reconstruction following the earthquakes. She has taught Humanities and Women's Studies at Taree TAFE (Technical And Further Education) and has lived in Warrawillah, New South Wales.
