If this is an art book, it is one with a difference. It gives a unique personal dimension to Ursula Hoff (1909-2005), a German Jewish scholar who migrated to Melbourne in 1939. The first individual with professional qualifications in art history and curatorship to be employed in an art gallery or museum in Australia, she made a distinguished contribution to the National Gallery of Victoria. Not a full biography. The Outsider is an intimate close-up, that brings her and part of Gallery collections to life in a new and exciting - sometimes unsettling - way. (Libraries Australia record)
