AbstractHistoryArchive Description
‘A storyteller receives a phone call from a nurse. They have a party planned for kids in the hospital cancer unit. The clown can’t make it. Perhaps the storyteller could take his place. The storyteller is reluctant. What sort of stories do you tell to kids with cancer? But he takes the job. He survives the performance. Later he hangs around but most of the kids aren’t interested in chatting. They are too busy stuffing themselves with food. The nurse introduces him to Lily, a nine year old girl with leukemia. They chat and Lily asks him to visit her again. The storyteller keeps returning and a friendship develops. Until… Woven into this story are many stories, jokes, riddles and puzzles – even an entire storytelling show – that the storyteller shares with Lily. This book is at times funny and often moving.’ (Source: Good Reads website)
