Robert Riley is the son of Violet Riley, the grandson of Anna Miller and the nephew of Sam Dinah . He was taken away from his mother as a young child and placed in Sister Kate's Children's Home. Riley's mother Violet removed him from the home and they returned to Pingelly for at time. Riley joined the Army and later went over east to work in Aboriginal Affairs. As a member of the Stolen Generation he later became a major contributor to the movement towards Aboriginal land rights. Rob was involved with the establishment of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission, the inquiries into Deaths in Custody and the Stolen Generations. He was instrumental in helping to establish the Western Australian Aboriginal Legal Service and was the Chief Executive Officer for many years until his death.
