Milly Taylor's mother was fullblood and her father was an Irish man who was given the Aboriginal name of 'Katiti' whch meant buck tooth. Taylor's family moved around the north-west of South Australia and through Oodnadatta with a camel team. Milly's father built a mud house and they named the place Opposite Creek where they lived for a while. Because of repressive laws that prohibited unions between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, Taylor's father left to work and live in Coober Pedy. Taylor and her mother travelled across country living a traditonal lifestyle and eventually worked at a station where they were exploited by the owners. Over the years Taylor has had many children and granchildren and she lived for many years in Port Augusta before living in Alice Springs and Coober Pedy.
