Kathy Trimmer grew up in the North Eastern Goldfields before moving to Perth when she was 19. She has worked as a Language Centre linguist compiling Wongtha dictionaries.

Trimmer has taught traditional arts in schools and has promoted cultural awareness at public institutions including schools, hospitals, universities and the police department for many years. She is a well-known storyteller and songwriter.
