BiographyHistory

Mirawaong was a storyteller from the Northern Territory of Australia that became a friend of William E Harney (q.v.) and shared a number of stories with him in the book Tales from the Aborigines. During Mirawong's childhood, he lived with his mother and father, Jalnuk and Nymil in the swamp lands of the Pongi Pongi. The growing presence of outsiders seeking gold in their lands enticed Mirawong's father to take the family to a township where they began to miss the bush life.
