BiographyHistory

Winnie Grey's father was killed in action during the Second World War after being forced to enlist. Prior to the Second World War Tommy Gray had been a drover in the Pilbara area. Winnie Grey worked on stations as a domestic servant. When welfare officers and police attempted to take Winnie and her brother away, Winnie's mother would take them into the bushlands where they wouldn't be found.
