BiographyHistory

Phoebe Wanganeen is an Aboriginal Elder. She grew up at Point Pearce on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, but her Grandfather Alfred Spender came from Point McLeay Mission, now called Raukkan. Wanganeen had eleven children and moved to Adelaide so her son could access better medical services. Wanganeen was honoured with the Senior Australian Achiever of the Year Award in 2000 and a Premier's Award in 2000.
