BiographyHistory

Bill Reid grew up in Catabrai Mission to be a respected leader and Elder of the Aboriginal community in Bourke. Reid was involved with the Aboriginal Advancement League and in Bourke. Reid worked for the department of Aboriginal Affairs for some time before becoming heavily involved with the Church for 15 years. Reid was an expert craftsman who carved emu eggs, painted and sketched with oils. In 1997, Bill Reid was awarded the Tamworth Aboriginal Citizen of the Year Award.
