Stanley Mitchell was born in the Atherton Tablelands of far-north Queensland. As a child he enjoyed the exercise and freedom of living amongst nature and spent most of his time playing outdoors.

In his late teens he began boxing and became a part of a travelling boxers show. Later he worked for 'Bullen Brothers' travelling circus touring around Queensland, Adelaide and Melbourne. He now lives in Minto, New South Wales.
