Rashida Murphy is a writer of short stories, poems and one novella. Her short stories and poetry has been published in literary magazines and anthologies since 1990. Murphy holds two Masters degrees, one in English Literature, the other in Creative Writing. Her work explores the relationships between fathers, mothers and daughters and the impact of physical dislocation on those relationships. When she is not writing she works as a TAFE teacher in Western Australia. In 2008 she took a year off work to live in Melbourne and write a first draft of a novel about displacement, spanning Iran, India and Australia.
