Susan Dunn was three years old when she was sent to Cootamundra Aboriginal Girls' Home after her mother passed away. Dunn was fostered at sixteen and began factory work. Dunn became involved in church activity and in the music scene associating with Jimmy Little.

Dunn's story was recorded by the National Library of Australia for the Bringing Them Home oral history project and appeared in the associated publication Many Voices: Reflections on experiences of Indigenous child separation, edited by Doreen Mellor and Anna Haebich (2002).
