BiographyHistory

June Djiagween Elliot's family comes from Broome and Hedland, Western Australia. Elliot is related to Pat and Mick Dodson. Elliot never finished high school, as she enrolled herself into a mechanical fitting course. She was unable to complete it but a year and a half later she got back into it and finished her apprenticeship. Elliot has worked all over the world for her trade. In 1998, she won the 'National NAIDOC [National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee] Aboriginal Apprentice/Trainee of the year, and the STate Training Awards Trainee of the Year' (Tweedie, P.,Indigenous Australia : Standing Strong, Simon & Schuster, 2001, p. 25).
