BiographyHistory

Maulboyheener came from an inland Tasmanian Tribe from the Ben Lomond highlands. During 1841, he was a part of a group of five Tasmanian Aboriginals (Tunnerminnerwait, Planobeena, Pyterrunner, and Truganini) who conducted an eight-week campaign of resistance to European settlement in Port Philip in Victoria. The group were captured and brought to trial in Melbourne; both Maulboyheener and Tunnerminnerwait were convicted of murder and were hanged on 20 January 1842. They were the first executions to take place in Port Phillip.
