Festival Awards for Literature (SA) (1986-2013)
Subcategory of Awards — Australian Awards
History
Introduced by the State Government in 1986 and originally managed by Arts South Australia, the biennial Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature celebrate Australia’s writing culture by offering national and state-based literary prizes.
They are granted biennially for the best works published in Australia in the previous two years, and include seven national awards (for published works) and two awards and two fellowships specifically for South Australian writers. In 2012, a Young Adult Fiction Award was introduced.
In 2024, the awards were rebranded as the South Australian Literary Awards, and management moved to the State Library of South Australia.
