Volume 1, chapter 1: 'Birth and parentage of Mister Dump; the fortune his mother, Mrs. Dollar underwent during her accouchment; the creative faculties of the Governor, and his extacies, on the birth of our Hero.'

  • Alternative title: Or Botany Sketches, interspersed with anecdotes, historical, biographical, and philosophical, of the use, progress, and present state of New South Wales; with political reflections on the necessity of improving the penal code, as regards the object of transportation, the punishment of grave and minor offences, and the moral improvement likely to take place by a further parliamentary interference on matters connected with the Colonial regulations.
