'der stein der weisen' was written between 1954 and 1962, and first published by wolfgang fietkau verlag, berlin, in 1963. gerhard ruhm, in his notes on konrad bayer, das gesamtwerk (rowohlt 1977) offers the following early version of 'heroic geometry' from 1954 for comparison with final version of 1962:
