The text of this poem is pencilled inside the back cover of the National Library of Australia's Main Reading Room (Overseas Monograph Collection) copy of Robert Lowe's Poems of a Life (1885 ed.). The book bears the pencil inscription 'Bertram Stevens' inside the front cover; it is possible the poem was written by Stevens.
