'In this paper I discuss aspects of leadership in relation to co-editing an academic
journal. Because I had no formal training in leadership—not unusual for leaders in
academia—I gather from memory experiences where I learnt about leadership, and
combine these with reference to research by Karl Lewin and others, in a personal
analysis of principles and practices which stood me in good stead for the task of editing
