Notes

  • Editor's note: [We have declined, for obvious reasons, to insert about twenty kind communications like the above from Maitland, Wollongong, Campbelltown, and other parts of the colony, but learning from the bearer of this letter that it is the spontaneous act of a venerable and respectable settler, aged eighty three years, we could not refuse to give a place to it. We take this opportunityof informing our distant friends that the malicious intentions of our enemies have been fruitless, except in procuring the free gift to us of some hundreds of pounds in shares, and the purifying of our subscription list from the names of John Coyle, Mich. Gannon, Sam. Lyons, and three others whose names we forget.-ED]
