'Tony is deserted by his father at the age of 11, and for another 11 years he has the most harrowing experiences, until eventually he is acknowledged as Lord Trent. While trying to earn a living at Cairo he is picked up by a man named Robertson, and carried off to New Zealand where he spends a happy time on a sheep station. During Robertson's absence in England, Tony runs away from the station owing to the manager ill-using him. He turns up at Thursday Island, where he has some trying experiences, and eventually falls in which Pamela, who is in possession of the Trent estates. He tells her that he is the rightful heir and then disappears, in order not to oust Pamela from the estate. Pamela then sets out on her adventures, and finding Tony at Brisbane they make a match of it, and Tony assumes the title of Lord Trent.'
