Notes

  • Edward Butler (1823-1879) was an Irish-born journalist, barrister and New South Wales M.L.A. He arrived in Sydney in 1853, and initially worked at the Empire, before pursuing a legal career. He was the brother of Thomas Butler, who was for a number of years editor of the Freeman's Journal.
