The alternative title mistakenly appears on the cover of the March 1998 issue of Science Fiction Age and was repeated in the Science Fiction Bullsheet (27 February 1998). The error was confirmed and corrected by Stephen Dedman in a letter published in the 6 November issue of Bullsheet:
'Hi, Marc. Just a note to say that the actual title of Murder Planet was Founding Fathers (SF Age has this strange habit of putting often inappropriate blurbs on the cover), and you've also missed my story in the June Asimov's, Target of Opportunity.'
