The Geelong Advertiser reports on the court case between Messers Elmes and Hassett. Mr Elmes, proprietor of a new theatre, contended that Geelong should not be allowed a second theatre and argued that Mr Hassett's licence not be renewed.

— Appears in: The Geelong Advertiser , 28 November vol. 8 no. 862 1848; (p. 2) The Geelong Advertiser continues its discussion (begun in the issue for 23 November 1848) on the court case between Messers Elmes and Hassett. Mr Elmes, proprietor of a new theatre, contended that Geelong should not be allowed a second theatre and argued that Mr Hassett's licence not be renewed. The Advertiser, while not directly supporing either man, agrees that Geelong should only support one theatre.
