This poem refers to a local court case McKenna v. Taylor for the illegal detention of boxes belonging to Ricardo Floyd. Originally published without attribution, the poem was repeatedly reprinted in subsequent issues of The Southern Courier as a paid advertisement attributed to John Taylor, Royal Hotel, Deniliquin. It is unclear whether Taylor was the author of the piece or an admirer who paid for the advertisement. Taylor was the successful defendant of the court case in question.
