This, the thirteenth in a series on pioneers and explorers, tells of Sir John Franklin. It links him with George Bass and Ludwig Leichhardt, two other explorers who tragically disappeared. This gives an overview of his life and tells how Franklin set out from England on May 19th 1845 to explore for a north-west passage. He was trapped in ice for two years. Rescue ships were sent but he was never found.
