Professor Ivo Vellar was born in Camporovere, a village in northeastern Italy. He migrated to Australia at the age of four in 1938 with his parents and sister. He graduated from the clinical school of St Vincent's Hospital in 1957. After qualifying as a surgeon, he later became Senior Surgeon there. -- From Trove record
