AbstractHistoryArchive Description
Influenced by the American Civil war song, 'When Johnny Comes Marching Home,' 'War Bride' is Peter Mitchell's ode to the Vietnam War. Although too young to have served in Vietnam, he nevertheless had strong memories of the postwar era. The song examines the effect of the war on those who stayed (the wives and girlfriends) and the men who came home (but could never really leave their experiences behind).
