AbstractHistoryArchive Description
Review critical of two poems which appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald, following publication of reports on the fate of Kennedy's expedition. After discussing the poems, the reviewer concluded : 'A greater insult to the memory of poor Kennedy, his gallant band, and the public was never perpetrated; nor can it fail to excite a mingled feeling of regret, surprise and indignation that the leading journal of the colony should have lent its aid to publish such contemptible effusions; such despicable doggrel [sic], upon so solemn and lamentable an event.'
