Author's Money to Help Others, single work obituary

'A Queensland author who died this year has left most of his $25,436 estate to encourage Australian short story writers. Ronald Leith Carson Gold, who lived at Station Road, Deagon before he died last January. In his will he left most of his estate for the establishing of the R. Carson Gold Memorial fund. The income from the fund is to provide an annual bursary or bursaries of not less than $150 to be awarded to an Australian-born author of a magazine short story set in Australia or the adjacent islands. The bursaries are to be awarded after an annual competition.Probate of his will was issued yesterday in the Supreme Court. Mr. Gold wrote under the name of Ronald Carson Gold, for Australian radio, television and magazines. He wrote the Devil Doone adult adventure comic, carried in a number of national magazines. His brother, Mr. W. L. Gold, of Benyon Street, Wavel Heights, said last night: 'He had to fight for everything he got, and he said he wanted to make it easier for the others.'
