The extract describes a hostile encounter with the indigenous people of the area between Champion Bay and the Murchison River, Western Australia. Following the extract is published personal accounts of the incident by Gregory, Rivett Henry Bland and Thomas Bailey 'taken upon oath the 21st December, 1848, before W. H. Mackie and G. Leake'.
