The rivalry between the two Perth, Western Australia, newspapers of the 1840s, The Perth Gazette and Western Australian Journal and the Inquirer, continued in the pages of both newspapers throughout the 1840s with various arguments including the Inquier's that the Perth Gazette is the mouth piece of the Government of the colony. This unattributed column, possibly by the editor, Elizabeth Macfaull, refutes this accusation amongst others.
