AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Edwards received the Australian Folk Trust Fellowship in 1985, and travelled to Britain to study broadside ballads relating to early Australia. He made facsimile copies of a considerable number of ballads with an Australian reference, which are reproduced, along with transcriptions and notes, in this work and in the companion volume The Transport's Lament (1986). Edwards published revised and enlarged editions of both works in 1987-1988.
