September 1938 (Australia). Released in the USA on 24 June 1939. A slightly abridged version was released in the UK in 1943.
Location:
- Filmed primarily on location in the Great Barrier Reef and North Queensland. Underwater scenes were filmed off Green Island (near Cairns). The few interior scenes were shot at the Commonwealth Film Laboratories studios at the Sydney Showground.
