AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Loosely connected series based around the detective Clement Mackie, "a man of undoubted integrity; with organising ability of a high order; with a good knowledge of our principal capital cities; and possessing almost superhuman skill in the science of detection; a consummate actor; an adept at disguises, and a forceful personality". Mackie works for The Secret Council, a committee of businessmen formed towards the purpose of stamping out dockside theft. (from 'The Plunderers')
