2. Made for only £7,000, Night Club was to be the final attempt at a feature production by A. R. Harwood. As Andrew Pike and Ross Cooper (1980) note, the film proved to be a disappointment in that (like Harwood's earlier film, Show Business) it failed to receive commercial distribution after several private previews in late 1952 (p. 239). The film was exhibited over the next few years in small suburban and country theatres, however. Harwood appeared in the film (under his given names Alex Roy), as did his daughter Marjorie.
