AbstractHistoryArchive Description

"Larry is a scamp - an irredeemable young rascal, with a heart as big as his sense of humour. Although orphaned under sad circumstances, Larry treats life as one huge and elaborate jest. Thrown upon his own resources at the early age of eight, he has since managed, for several years, to maintain a precarious and uncertain livelihood. This he does in an endlessly non-descript variety of ways, using either fair methods or foul; and, though his conception of honesty is somewhat vague, yet, at heart, he is a true sportsman. When he hates, he hates with a will. When he loves, he does so with an ingenious and sincere affection, which leads to all manner of kind and thoughtful actions. he is a simple, lovable young savage, tempered by the sporting instincts of civilisation." 'An Introduction'. The Australian Journal. Pt.680, 1/1/1922 p.15
