Humorous poem on the Brisbane Town Hall clock. At this time, Brisbane Town Hall had recently been opened, and the clock's regular half-hourly and hourly chimes were being heard by Brisbane residents for the first time. Needless to say, the chimes became the object of a good deal of criticism, and a debate even ran in the 'Letters' column of the Brisbane Courier between those who liked the chimes, and those who saw them as an intrusion, along with traffic noise, jazz parties, etc.
