An anthology of extracts from literary works about the British Commonwealth.

Monsarrat, in his 'Foreword', states that there 'is a link between us all, but it makes for a wonderful variety within the Commonwealth : different people, different customs and religions, different dangers to contend with. There are many contrasting stories in this book to illustrate these differences. You can find out what life is like in South Africa, and India, and Canada, and lots of other countries; how it was in the old days, and how it is today' (p. vii).
