Notes

  • 'The first issue of the Victorian Express was pulled by the Government Resident this afternoon [11 September 1878]; most of the influential settlers of the district were present and about one hundred and fifty persons. The ships in the harbor and the town made a display of bunting in honor of the occasion.'
