'Film News' section report on the preview screening of The Broken Melody, which was held at the Embassy Theatre, Sydney, the previous day. In addition to providing background details on the production, and biographical sketches of the actors etc., the report states : 'The screen play by Frank Harvey is based on the novel by Frederick J. Thwaites, who said at the preview yesterday that he was more than pleased with the screen presentation of his first book.' Photographs of the cast and director at the premiere appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald social pages on 18 June 1938 (p. 19).
