Censorship notes:
There is some evidence to suggest that Defoe's 1722 novel was listed as a prohibited publication by Australian Customs before this date. The Book Censorship Board advised release on 22.11.1933 but was overruled, Customs fearing that it would 'open the way for requests for a review of other books at present on the prohibited list'.
