First published in the Imperial Songster of 1907, captioned 'Bill Whitburn's Dago Gag', this piece of comic recitation was likely performed to a musical accompaniment. The piece includes references to both Captain James Cook and the Captain Cook Hotel, situated near Sydney's old Paddy's Markets in the Darling Harbour area.
