  • Contains an advertisement for the serialised version of Eldershaw and Barnard's novel A House is Built. The novel won The Bulletin's inaugural novel competition and was published in abridged form in The Bulletin as The Quartermaster.

    A supplement includes the first chapter of the novel, as well as an example of Norman Lindsay's illustrations. The supplement announced that a set of twelve of these illustrations were later to be produced as prints and would be made available to Bulletin subscribers.

Shoes for Cinderella, Velia Ercole , single work short story
Min is a plain and lonely girl who is ridiculed by her fellow workshop workers for her daydreams. Min believes that one day she will meet the man of her dreams. She thinks she has found him when a new boarder, a young man, tells her she has perfect feet. He has ambitions to design shoes and his appreciation of her feet leads her to believe he is as attracted to her as she is to him. When his designs are accepted Min is thrilled for him, but she receives a bitter disappointment.

Elizabeth Bennett has not been left alone since her husband died. She is solicitously cared for by her widowed son, George, and her daughter, Anne. She longs for solitude but when she finally achieves a few days alone the experience is not what she hoped for.
