AbstractHistoryArchive Description

This study considers Nettie Palmer's impressive contribution as a literary scholar and journalist within the context of literary and publishing developments and analyses the impact of her reviews on sales and distribution of books in Australia between the wars. An annotated list of Nettie Palmer's published columns - including some critiques of Australian publishing - are provided in the appendices; gaps in extant bibliographies of Nettie Palmer's reviews are also identified.
