AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Betty Roland spent time on the Greek island of Lesbos during the late-1950s and early-1960s. This book recounts her experiences and the people she met there - including journalist and theatre practitioner Kester Berwick.

Roland also recalls her visit to Gallipoli in 1961. Through a misunderstanding between the Turkish authorities and Australian Anzac representatives she was the lone Australian present at the Anzac Cove on April 25th, and was therefore accorded the honour of laying flowers on the Stone of Remembrance.
