AbstractHistoryArchive Description
A series of filmed readings held at Kimbos in Canberra. In his article 'Readings from Canberra: A Strong Tradition', Geoff Page records that 'In the late eighties the [Canberra] reading "scene" thinned out somewhat, though it was sustained to a degree by some readings in Smith's Bookshop, a series at Boyd's Restaurant in 1986 (organised by Phil Mackenzie) and the development of other venues such as "Writers at Kimbo's" where the emphasis was on participation by beginning or relatively unknown writers rather than presenting more well-known (and more expensive) names' (Source: National Library of Australia News March 1995, pp.16-18).
