AbstractHistoryArchive Description
A fictional letter from a father to his son, read out (and paraphrased) by the son's mother. The father has emigrated (with his daughter and sister/sister-in-law) to Australia, leaving behind his ill wife and son. At the end of the letter, the mother announces that they will be following their family to Australia.
The work contains much patriarchal Victorian colonialism, particularly with a view to the schools run by white settlers.
