Hugh Anderson (q.v.) has suggested that the ballads in this collection attributed to 'Remos' were written by George Loyau (see George Loyau: The Man Who Wrote the Bush Ballads (1991) and the Oxford Companion to Australian Literature). However, more recent research tends to confirm the earlier view of Geoffrey Bolton (q.v.) and others, that these particular ballads were in fact the work of Phillip Somer (q.v.).
